Once a design has been settled on we can arrange for registration of the tartan with the appropriate organisations.

There are a number of reasons you may wish to register or 'record' a tartan in Scotland. Scotland is the home of tartan and the international register of all tartans. By registering you protect your design and its name. You also gain 'legitimacy' for your tartan - it will be recorded for all time in Scotland.

Prior to registration, it is necessary to have a piece of the cloth woven and we can arrange this for you. The minimum weave is 1 yard, however, more cloth can of course be woven if the tartan is to be sold commercially.

We can then proceed to registration and once registered you will receive a certificate showing the date registered, the name of the tartan and the owner of the tartan. Upon payment we transfer full copyright and ownership of the tartan to you as the client.
